What is the Big Walk?
About The Big Walk
Walkers enjoy 5km – 10km of majestic scenery on the Durban promenade, proceeding north on Snell Parade, turning left into Athlone Drive. They turn immediately right onto Ruth First Highway contra-flow to cross the Umgeni River. We veer right up the first on-ramp, turn left and take an immediate right to continue on Waterkant Road.
5km Walk
Experience a scenic 5km walk along Durban’s iconic beachfront – ideal for families, casual walkers, and first-timers of all ages to enjoy together.
10km Walk
The 10km route is perfect for those seeking a longer coastal adventure. Take in ocean views and city vibes while walking at your own comfortable pace.
PACK COLLECTION
Please collect your T-shirt, event number and other goodies from the playTSOGO Globe at Suncoast, from Thursday 14 May to Saturday, 16 May 2026
ROAD CLOSURES
Durban Metro Police will close several roads. Make sure you note these so that your commute to the event is smooth and hassle-free. You will need to plan your drive to avoid these roads.
PARK & RIDE
Parking Facilities are available. Busses will rotate between People’s Park and uShaka Marine World from 05:30 until 12:30. You can catch a bus from the finish area to the start area.
TIME LIMIT & TIMING
Walkers must complete the course distance they entered before 12:00. Walkers on the road after 12:00 will be deemed to have retired. (Sweep vehicles will collect all walkers who are still en route at this time)y
REFRESHMENTS
Refreshment stations will be on the route for all distances. Look at the route maps to see where each refreshment stand will be. No personal seconding will be allowed.

Yes, the event is wheelchair and pram-friendly.
However, dogs are strictly not allowed.
No refunds will be issued if you do not participate.
However, your payment can be re-directed to another entrant.
Yes, distance changes can be made during Number Collection at a cost of R50 per entry (cash only).
Yes, refreshment stations will be available along the route for all distances.
Children under the age of 5 can participate for free, but they will not receive a goodie bag, T-shirt, or number.
When entering a minor without an ID number, please use their birth certificate details.
A minimum of 20 entries is required for group payments.
Voucher numbers will be issued after payment. Each group member must register online individually and enter the voucher number at checkout.
Corporate entry packs will be pre-packed for collection.
Entries for both corporate and individual participants will close on 30 April 2025, or earlier if capacity for any distance is reached.
No. T-shirt sizes cannot be changed once you have completed your entry.
